LESSONS IN CONSCIOUS WORKING

We imagine a world where people value their work-life as a space to grow in insight and understanding;  a space to awaken their own innate knowledge.

HANDLING PRESSURE

Pressure and stress are often referred to interchangeably. However, the two are not necessarily the same. Focusing on the ability to handle pressure to achieve results, this workshop aims to empower participants to utilise pressure without allowing it to get the better of them.

Through personal reflection and discussion participants will identify their position of optimal performance on the pressure spectrum. Participants will identify ways to maintain this position, so as to ensure pressure does not transition into stress.

This workshop draws on the knowledge, experience and understanding of each participant to support a collaborative appreciation of how best to relate to pressure. Collective input reinforces a respect and consideration for each participant’s individual temperament and style. This in turn nurtures a workspace which responds effectively to pressure.

UNDOING STRESS

Stress, a normal human reaction, is seen as the demon of our times. Actively reflecting on how stress invades the different aspects of our lives, participants learn how to uncover and deal with the underlying causes. Group discussion on what stress is, what causes stress, and the signs of stress will allow participants to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the deeper impact of stress when ignored.

Through guided exercises, reflecting on personallife experiences, participants will learn how to undo stress so that they can return to their core state which is peaceful and content.

SPONTANEOUS FLOW

When we are ‘in the flow’ we express effectively without much effort. Such a state allows us to perform with greater skill and achieve greater results. Essential to achieving such a productive state is our capacity to become absorbed in what it is we are doing.

This workshop will provide participants with a clear understanding of the primary skills needed to cultivate spontaneous flow. Practical exercises will support participants in experiencing how these may be utilised and experienced. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on how they can apply the skills outlined with immediate effect.

MANAGING TIME

Time management is often reduced to being a matter of adhering to a set of principles or practices. This would be okay if we were all the same, but we are not. We all relate to life in our own way. This workshop explores the underlying issues behind time management difficulties. It provides a space for practitioners to gain clarity on their individual attitude towards time, performing tasks, getting things done and who they are amidst it all.

The workshop begins with a guided personal reflection to help participants broaden their perspective on how they relate to time. Small group discussions followed by a whole group debate serves to allow each participant to connect with the specific attitudes and practices needed to empower them, on a personal level, to be more effective in how they use the hours each day gives.

EMOTIONAL MASTERY PI

The degree to which we can experience and enjoy a fulfilling life free from suffering depends for the most part on mastering our emotions. Through appreciation of the primal role of emotions and how they influence mental processes and behaviours, participants explore ways to cultivate positive emotions while managing negative ones.

A short explanation on the role of the mind in interpreting emotions as feelings, will empower participants to take charge of their state. Through carrying out a series of exercises, participants will be provided with a means to shift their attitude at will.

EMOTIONAL MASTERY PII

Emotional mastery is the capacity to remain attuned to our own inner peace and contentment at all times. It depends on being able to let go of the thought processes which prevents us from feeling good within ourselves. Building on the information and practices shared as part of the first workshop, participants further their understanding of how emotions can govern thoughts and actions.

Participants reflect on the interplay of positive and negative emotions in their lives, acquiring skills to manage their influence. Specific guided reflections will empower participants to continue real-time practices as they fulfil their daily responsibilities.

ADAPT WITH PURPOSE

Adaptability is essential for us to move forward with greater success in both our professional and our personal lives. The unexpected always awaits us. This workshop aims to highlight the importance of living on purpose, so as to be able to manage challenge and change effectively. While it can easy to theorise about what it means to be adaptable, it is not always so easy to demonstrate it when it matters.

Through personal reflective exercises participants will measure their own baseline capacity to adapt. This will be followed by a series of exercises to determine a framework which can be used to actively nurture the skill. It is intended that, by the end of the workshop, participants will have acquired an appreciation of the attributes which support spontaneous adaptability.

INTUITIVE WORKLIFE

Modern science recognises the role of unconscious thinking in evoking effective action in response to specific contexts and circumstances. Developing a personal appreciation of how to harmonise the engagement of both conscious and unconscious thinking processes is fundamental to awakening intuitive capacities.

Through a process of reflective enquiry and discussion participants can identify what it takes to facilitate greater intuitive expression. Direct analysis and application of specific frameworks and theory, to real life contexts will support attendees in eliciting a practical means to demonstrate greater intuitive expression in every area of their lives.

BREATHE LIFE BACK

Although breathing is something we have all been doing since the day we were born, it is something most of us are not very good at.

Time will be dedicated to gaining an understanding of the science behind the breathing process and its pertinence to our physical, emotional and mental well-being. Participants will perform a series of different exercises, and apply specific breathing techniques to gain a first-hand realisation of the role of the breath in bridging the different aspects of the mind-body system.

A simple daily practice will be shared which will empower each participant to nurture balance and inner peace once integrated into their day-to-day lives.

LIFE PRINCIPLES

We have all seen articles stating the ten things you need to do to be successful, the ten characteristics of a good leader, the ten ways to improve your work performance, the ten personal traits for mental well-being and so on. This workshop enquires into the principles a working professional must adhere to in order to experience unified harmony with life, at all times, whether at home or at work.

To begin, preliminary discussions allow participants to share their understanding of the role of principles in living lives of meaningful purpose. Participants then explore the meaning of ten specific principles, determining the value of each in helping them gain greater personal mastery. Participants question how these principles can be practised on a day-to-day level so as facilitate true personal contentment and harmony with life.

MORE THAN JUST WORK

Work ethic is often reduced to a set of behaviours which reflect an employee’s commitment to serving the organisation they work for. However, the moral principles that govern how each one of us behave, influences every aspect of our lives, including our attitude towards work.

This workshop involves a series of reflective exercises, where participants are invited to write personal responses to questions designed to awaken their appreciation of the role they fulfil. Group discussion will allow for elaboration on the relationship between; our individual sense of personal duty, utilisation of our inherent capabilities, and loyalty to the organisation which provides the means to serve.

The fundamental aim of the workshop is not to dictate a set of behaviours but rather awaken a desire in each participant to align themselves to a set of practices that ensures greater effectiveness in fulfilling their duties with integrity.

CREATIVE EXPRESSION

There is an innate want within each and every one of us to create and express. Despite this, many people often feel disconnected from their potential to share their voice, build on the old, and inspire. Many of us get stuck, unsure of our own inherent capacity to encourage growth and to effect change.

This workshop has been designed to support those taking part, regardless of how creative they may feel, to get their creative juices flowing. All the while, particpants are provided with a space to reflect on what it is that can quite often get in the way of our individual inventiveness.

The workshop includes exercises which will push each participant that little bit. In this way participants are reminded of the playful fulfilment only genuine creative expression can afford. In this way participants begin to appreciate the essential need within each of us to be creative and how we can make the most of this in our personal lives, but also in our professional lives.

Involvement in this workshop will require each participant to be ready with a pen and some blank paper.

OVERCOMING DISTRACTION

Distraction is quite often if not always the root cause of most workplace issues. It leads to the destruction of creativity, reduced productivity, ineffective use of time, poor interpersonal skills and greater stress.

This workshop revisits the fundamental relationship between the capacity to remain alert, attentive and focused and the ability to engage with life effectively. Through a series of personal reflections and group discussions participants examine the nature of distraction at a gross, subtle and extremely subtle level.

Taking time to answer a series of thought-provoking questions affords each participant the opportunity to understand their own tendency to become distracted, in what circumstances, under what conditions and for what purpose. Following this, a strategic approach is offered as a means to help participants to govern their state when tempted by distraction.

AWAKENED LEADERS

Awakened leaders respond appropriately to changing circumstances. They see beyond the obvious, affecting positive transformation and growth. The way of an awakened leader is simple, inclusive and unifying.

In this workshop, participants examine what it means to be an ‘awakened’ leader; exploring the qualities they demonstrate and the values they embody. Participants begin by sharing their perspectives on the role of those in leadership and their power to make a difference.

Following this, participants debate and discuss how the framework of distinctive principles adhered to, by awakened leaders, may influence how an awakened leader engages within the workplace. Gaining an appreciation for the significance of each of these principles, participants explore what it is that prevents them from adhering to this framework and exhibiting these same qualities.

Participants through involved, reflective discussion come face to face with the understanding that they are fully responsible for their own awakening.

SUCCESSFUL TRANSITIONS

Life is made up of transitions. They are the periods of change or passing which lead us from one event to another. Some transitions are more dramatic than others. It is our capacity to move through transitions with relative ease which determines how successfully we progress in our professional and personal life.

The primary objective of this workshop is to bring participants face to face with the continuously changing nature of life and how this impacts on how we behave.

The workshop begins with participants examining what defines a transition, paying particular attention to what it is that makes it a successful or unsuccessful one. Following this, participants reflect on how transitions present themselves, examining an average day in the life of an office professional. Guidance is then offered on how to ensure every transition is a smooth one. The workshop finishes with participants reflecting on an aspect of their own lives, applying what has been revealed to ensure they are able to make successful transitions.

This direct approach to appreciating the significance of transition and change serves to help participants to be able to move strategically with the flow of things, however big or small they might be.

COMPETENT COMMUNICATION

The capacity to communicate effectively is not determined by simply acquiring knowledge on a set of speaking and listening skills. Competent communication is dependent upon the ability to be fully, consciously aware of the context in which the exchange is taking place, and engaging appropriately.

Participants enquire into their personal role in ensuring they send clear, concise communications while also correctly understanding the communications they receive.

Beginning by clarifying their personal expectations from taking part in this workshop, participants, through a series of discussions, go on to explore what it means to be a competent communicator. Building on this, participants carry out a set of role-plays as a means to measure what variables contribute to communication flow and communication breakdown. The workshop concludes with a space for further personal reflection and self-evaluation.

PROBLEM SOLVING

Growing a customer base, increasing brand awareness, satisfying customer needs, hiring the right people, managing workflow, increasing profit, scaling up; these are the concerns of every business. Problem-solving is a key skill both in the workplace and in one’s personal life. Employees can serve best when they are able to successfully manage complex and unexpected circumstances, finding effective solutions.

The capacity to navigate challenging situations is determined by attitude. Success in overcoming such situations is dependent on approach. The primary aim of this workshop is to explore both attitude and approach empowering participants to generate sustainable solutions.

Through a series of activities, participants reflect on their inherent potential to deal with challenge. They examine what stands in the way of being able to identify, define, analyse and solve arising problems. Participants establish a framework of support to facilitate their success in delivering effective solutions with confidence.

CLARITY ON MEDITATION

Meditation has become more and more widely appreciated as a means to facilitating greater mental health and well-being. This workshop was designed with the recognition that people have varying degrees of knowledge and understanding of what meditation is and how it is practised.

Through a series of short discussions participants will share their experiences and insights. These will help to establish a reflective understanding of what meditation is, why it is practised and how it is practised. From this foundation clear instruction will be provided. A guided meditation practice will be included as part of the workshop for the purpose of giving participants an experiential understanding of how best to go about the process when sitting to practice themselves.

PRESENT WITH PRESENCE

Nowadays, it is impossible to avoid public speaking. Although we may not be destined to deliver a Ted Talk, it is highly likely we will have to present within the workplace. While Ted Talk presenters may make us laugh or shed a tear, the primary objective of workplace presentations is to inform and inspire. This is best achieved through the ability to deliver effective and engaging presentations to a variety of audiences.

The core focus of this workshop is to allow participants to identify who they are as a presenter, to align themselves with their own innate capacity to connect and share.

The workshop begins by encouraging participants to explore what it means to be present while presenting. Participants then analyse a series of statements to evaluate the relevance and value of each one based on their previous experiennces, expectations and anxieties. The workshop concludes with individual participants having a clearer appreciation of how they can deliver a presentation with passion, personality and persuasion.

EVERY LITTLE DETAIL

Meticulous attention to detail makes us more effective in everything we do. The capacity to identify specifics not only makes us more productive, but allows for greater quality of work.

Some of the key challenges, in our being able to remain focused on particulars, is having to work fast, having to rely on memory, becoming inattentive, changing from one task to another, and planning and reasoning.

This dynamic workshop aims to give participants a hands-on demonstration of how each of the challenges listed above can affect their capacity to be mindful of details. A series of six high-intensity activities gives each participant the opportunity to hone in on their ability to remain alert, attentive and focused despite the presence of a variety of all-too-common obstacles that are inclined to prevent them from doing so. Following each activity participants are given an opportunity to reflect on the completed task, sharing new learnings.

It is intended that participants benefit from the intensity and depth of reflection facilitated in this workshop, transferring the insights gained, as a result of taking part, to their everyday professional and personal lives.

SELF LEARNING

True wisdom is within us. It is not information we acquire and assimilate but rather knowledge which is made known to us as a result of freeing ourselves from our misconceptions, and erroneous thoughts, beliefs and ideas. Self-learning is not dependent on others but solely on ourselves.

Self-learning requires the ability to be self-governing, self-disciplined, self- organised, self-reflective and self-evaluating. Fundamental to each of these, however, is being able to maintain an objective relationship with ourselves.

This workshop empowers participants to develop this capacity to self-observe; to see themselves more clearly. Through a series of guided exercises it is intended that participants begin to uncover a deeper understanding of who they are. With this awakened insight, participants are provided the means to live and work with greater effectiveness.

PERSONAL VALUES

Personal values, often spoken about in terms of material things, relationships, places, or experiences, are in fact the individual set of standards which influence how we experience every aspect of our lives. Fundamental to a healthy life is having a clear understanding on what one’s values are.

Through a series of guided personal reflection exercises accompanied by intervals of person-to-person pair-coaching, participants will have the opportunity to identify their own personal values, understand how they influence the way they live and use this knowledge to redefine the standards they live by.

CORE POWER

We get in the way of our own innate power to live in tune with life when we become dependent on externals to give us strength. In this workshop, participants will explore how they can attune themselves to their own inner strength by identifying where the core of their strength lies.

Participants will perform four guided exercises to reflect on how they relate to the physical, energetic, emotional and mental aspects of their being. In so doing, they will develop an appreciation of how to nurture greater overall well-being.

The workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to understand their innermost self, the source of all strength.

JOURNEY INWARDS

Although more and more people are showing an interest in exploring their innermost nature, the desire to understand who we are and what we are about is stronger in some than others.

This workshop aims to serve all professionals who demonstrate a commitment and responsibility towards fulfilling their work roles and personal duties yet who may wonder is this all there is. The workshop has been designed with the recognition that we all need to experience fulfilment in every area of our lives, professional, social, personal and spiritual.

As a means to neutralising any inner conflict that may arise due to feeling an imbalance or a lack of self-connection, this workshop provides participants with an opportunity to reflect on what it means to journey inwards without actually having to go anywhere. Through a series of reflective questions participants will uncover and define what this journey inward means to them.

BEING YOU

We define ourselves by the circumstances of our lives. Through our over-identification with our physical, emotional, and mental experiences, we prevent ourselves from actualising our full potential.

The Being You workshop incorporates the essential teaching that inspired each of the other workshops in this series. This is the teaching that each one of us is more than the sum of our life circumstances, our physical features, our personal characteristics, our emotional states and our thinking patterns. We exist, both individually and collectively, with an innate capacity to evolve in knowledge and understanding.

The purpose of this workshop is to examine what it means to be ‘you’. This is done through a series of guided exercises which include; personal written reflections, self-contemplation and group discussion. At the end of the workshop, participants are provided with an opportunity to measure their shift in perspective on what it means to be them in relation to the lives they lead.

SELF ACCOUNTABILTY

Self-accountability, or personal accountability, is having the ability to take account for one’s own self. This means taking full responsibility for how we behave and how we live. It means being answerable for the mistakes we make, facing problems that arise head on, and managing our individual shortcomings.

In this workshop participants reflect on the depths to which responsibility can be demonstrated. Participants explore the significance of individual willingness and personal ability as key factors in taking full responsibility.

Small group and whole group discussions on key topics give each participant the space to unpackage their previously held beliefs and opinions around responsibility, blame, criticism, obligation, choice, and fear. A strategic approach is offered to support individuals so they may navigate specific scenarios with greater confidence.

The workshop is designed so that participants may begin to recognise themselves as the cause of things and so inspire them to take greater ownership.
